We live in a fast-paced world that forces us to be in a constant state of change no matter what. The reality is that life, in general, is all about change. It is in our nature & there is no getting out of it!
For some reason, this change causes us to want to manage everything we cannot control. Many of us are constantly trying to have complete control of our lives without realizing that this is not possible. There are just certain aspects of our lives that we will never be able to control.
We tend to make plans, create lists, routines, and systems so we feel somewhat in charge of our lives, but when it comes to the things that happen to us, we have no control of what may come next. Yet, we choose to suffer over not being able to have full control. We cry, get frustrated, and complain. We don’t realize that this is just a normal part of life. The more we try to control things, the more we will suffer; This is where surrendering to the divine comes into play.
We already know there is a higher aspect of us that is the one in charge. We may think we are in control, but this is not always true. That divine aspect of us is the only one that has the power to determine our future.
To surrender means to cease resistance. To relax and let go of all preconceived notions we have in our minds. When we do this, we begin to believe more in that higher aspect, trusting that it knows what is best for us. Many times we think we want something so bad cause it will make us happier. Then when we receive it, we realize it is not as fulfilling as we thought.
The more we try to control our destiny, the further we get from living our truth. Constantly attempting to gain control only brings stress, anxiety, deception, fears, and unhappiness.
So how do we learn to surrender?
First of all, surrendering does not mean not taking any action. We must still keep on with our daily lives, coming from a place of trust and love instead of fear.
One of my favorite things to practice is meditation. It allows me to be more present in the now without the need to be thinking of my past or future. When we are in a state of control, we tend to be thinking about our future and what may come next. This interferes with the possibility of manifesting anything we want in our reality. If we learn to be in the now, we will live a happier life. Relax and surrender to the possibilities of your future, trusting that the divine knows best.
Pay attention to your feelings. If you’re feeling any stress or anxiety, this is a sign that you may be trying to control something in your life. So breathe, relax and listen to your body. Be curious without forcing things and accept the ever-constant-changing world we are living in.
Learn to appreciate your surroundings and find the beauty in change. Once we realize that change is good, although the unknown may be daunting, we will learn to go with the flow and fall in love with life.
Always try to see life from a positive point of view. Remember that control is rooted in fear. It is a result of being attached to a specific outcome. When we trust and let go, we open ourselves to the unlimited possibilities of our universe!
