5 Proven Strategies for Developing Self-Love

Do you tend to care about everyone else needs but forget about the one person that matters the most: YOURSELF?

Self-love is the practice that helps you appreciate your worth regardless of what everyone else is saying. We live in a society where people make you feel selfish when you put yourself first. But practicing self-love helps you overcome this feeling and build confidence in your abilities.

Today I’m going to show you how to develop trust in yourself and help you see that happiness is not something you beg for but what you deserve!

1. Stop comparing yourself to other people

Theodore Roosevelt once said that comparison is the thief of joy. This is true because when you compare yourself to others, you tend to see their perfections, which is generally a mirror of the flaws you find within yourself.

Nobody has it all figured out, although social media will make you think otherwise. Instead of comparing yourself to someone else, look within yourself and find out what makes you authentic.

What you focus on is what increases. So by focusing on what makes you unique, you begin to appreciate yourself more.

2. Others’ opinions do not count

Next, you have to understand that what people think or say about you does not matter what counts is what you believe about yourself. People will always have something to say about everything. Don’t listen to them.

Do not allow the opinion of someone else to define YOUR reality!

We live in a society that holds a high standard toward perfection, which is impossible to meet. What truly matters is being authentic, the highest and best version of yourself. The next time you hear any negativity around you shut it off and repeat this to yourself…

“I define my reality, today I choose happiness”

3. Live and make mistakes

One of the worst enemies of self-love is perfection. If you find yourself not willing to try new things because you’re scared of failing or making mistakes, then you’ve not learned to love yourself.

Nobody is perfect & no one will ever be. Accept your flaws and learn to live with everything that you are. Try new things and stop being harsh on yourself!

4. Eliminate toxic people from your life

Another way to develop self-love is to remove negative people from your life and spend more time with the right people. If you find yourself among individuals who talk down on you or others at every opportunity and leave you feeling on a lower vibration, you’re in the wrong environment.

Cut such people from your life. Learn to set boundaries and tell others “NO” without feeling guilty. Always put yourself first & remember to stand up for yourself because no one else will do it for you.

5. Learn to celebrate yourself

Learn to celebrate small victories, giving thanks every time you catch yourself saying anything negative about yourself, a situation, or others.

Look at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself affirmations like these every day…

“I love and accept myself!”

“Everything always turns out great for me.”

“I love and appreciate my body.”

Be mindful and patient with yourself, grateful for each day. Self-love is the journey within to discover who you are and accept yourself fully. Remember that when everyone else is gone, you’re all you’ve got!

Be OK and comfortable with that.
