A Perfect Father’s Day Getaway at Plunge Beach Resort: Our Family Experience

Father’s Day has always been a special occasion for our family, and finding the perfect place to celebrate is vital. This year, we decided to return to Plunge Beach Resort in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Florida. 

Having spent a wonderful Father’s Day there previously, we knew we had to go back! This time, our family embarked on another unforgettable journey at this beachfront paradise.

Check-In Experience

We were greeted with warmth and hospitality from the moment we walked into Plunge Beach Resort. 

Kiki and Suzette at the front desk were exceptional. Suzette, in particular, was incredibly knowledgeable about the hotel and made our check-in process smooth and efficient. 

The hotel’s interior is full of art pieces and homey areas with games for guests to hang out, perfect for families looking to relax and enjoy quality time together. 

The check-in was quick, and we appreciated the convenient parking and reasonable parking rates.

The vibrant atmosphere immediately caught our attention as we stepped into the lobby. The space is tastefully decorated with eclectic art pieces reflecting local culture and beach vibes. 

Several cozy areas are available for guests to unwind, play board games, or simply enjoy a good book. These thoughtful touches make the hotel feel welcoming and great for families. 

Suzette provided us with all the necessary information about the hotel amenities and activities, ensuring we felt right at home from the start.

Our Room

We stayed in a spacious one-bedroom suite with 2 Queen beds in the Island Building. 

The 700-square-foot suite offered ample space, perfect for our family. It featured a separate living room and bedroom, two furnished balconies, pillow-top mattress beds, a day bed in the living room, and two 50″ LED HD wall-mounted TVs. 

The room was spotless, with three built-in closets, an in-room safe, a mini fridge, and two beautifully tiled bathrooms with walk-in showers and complimentary toiletries. 

One of the things we appreciated most about our room was the attention to detail. 

The beds were incredibly comfortable, with soft linens and plenty of pillows. The living room was an excellent space for our family to gather and relax after a day of activities. 

The balcony quickly became our favorite evening and morning relaxation spot, offering a serene view of the pool and ocean. 

The room’s layout provided the perfect balance of privacy and togetherness, making it ideal for any family.

Splash Time Fun!

After settling in, we headed straight to enjoy the beachfront pool and the beach. 

The resort’s amenities are top-notch, with a well-maintained pool. Other families were also enjoying the pool, and the friendly staff, including the helpful pool attendants, ensured everyone had a great time. 

The beachfront pool is a true highlight of the resort. It’s beautifully designed, with plenty of loungers and shaded areas for relaxation. 

The pool area is well-kept and perfect for families, with a separate shallow section for younger children. We spent hours enjoying the pool, and it was clear that many other families were also having a great time. 

Lunch at BackFlip Beach Bar

Our first stop for food was at the BackFlip Beach Bar, a vibrant and casual spot right by the pool. Michael was exceptional in his service, making us feel like VIPs. The menu at BackFlip offers a variety of delicious options that cater to different tastes. 

We tried the Mahi Sandwich, which was perfectly cooked and flavorful. The chicken wings were a hit, and the key lime pie was the perfect ending to our meal. The prices were very reasonable, which is always a plus when traveling with a family.

One of the best things about BackFlip is the full bar. While I opted for mocktails since I’m currently breastfeeding my 7-month-old, the variety of drinks available is impressive!

Michael made a Strawberry Mojito mocktail and a virgin Piña Colada, both of which were delicious. The drinks’ presentation and flavors were outstanding.

Beach Experience

The beach at Plunge Beach Resort is pristine. 

Even though it had been raining in South Florida the past week, the weather cleared up just in time for Father’s Day. 

The Atlantic Ocean’s soft sand and clear waters make it a paradise for beach lovers. The water was just the right temperature for a refreshing swim.

The resort offers complimentary beach chairs, umbrellas, and towels, making it easy for families to relax and enjoy the sun.

Lots of Family-Friendly Activities

Plunge Beach Resort caters to families with children, offering a wide range of activities to entertain everyone. 

In addition to the beach and pool, the resort has a children’s play area with various games and activities. We played a giant Jenga game, which was a lot of fun for the whole family. 

The resort organizes various events and entertainment, ensuring there’s always something to do. 

They had a sandy pickle game on the beach for this Father’s Day weekend.

The fitness center is another great amenity at the resort. It’s well-equipped with modern machines and free weights, perfect for those who want to keep up with their workout routine while on vacation. 

The hotel loaner bicycles were perfect for exploring the local area, and complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the property was fast and reliable, allowing us to stay connected and share our experiences with friends and family.

Nighttime Fun

After a full day of enjoying the beach and pool, we explored the local area. 

We discovered a charming neighborhood with various dining and entertainment options just a short walk from the resort. 

We ended up at a pizzeria for some pizza, and then we found a quaint ice cream shop that offered various flavors. 

The area’s vibrant atmosphere added to the overall experience, making it a perfect end to our day.

The resort’s dining options are also worth mentioning. In addition to BackFlip Beach Bar, there’s Octopus, a signature restaurant that offers daily breakfast and pop-up dinner events. 

The coffee shop Bean & Barnacle is perfect for a quick breakfast or a mid-day snack. It offers a variety of pastries, sandwiches, and, of course, excellent coffee. 

The dining options cater to different tastes and preferences, ensuring everyone in the family finds something they love.

Morning Delight at Octopus

The following day, we had breakfast at Octopus, the resort’s breakfast restaurant. Dwain set up our table, Dee brought our lattes, and Cynthia served us with a smile. 

We enjoyed a delicious meal, with the Build Your Own Plunge Omelet and French toast being our favorites. 

Suzette approached our table to say hello and ensure everything was perfect. 

Octopus is a fantastic breakfast spot with a diverse menu. The Build Your Own Plunge Omelet allows you to choose from various fresh ingredients, ensuring a personalized and delicious meal. 

The French toast was perfectly cooked, with a crisp exterior and a soft, fluffy interior. The lattes were a great way to start the day, and the friendly and attentive staff enhanced the overall experience.

After breakfast, we confirmed our check-out at the front desk, where Suzette kindly offered a late check-out. We declined as we were ready to head out but appreciated the gesture.

Family-Friendly Environment

Plunge Beach Resort truly caters to families with children, offering special programs and activities for kids. The children’s play area, family-oriented activities, and organized events ensure that there’s always something fun to do. 

The resort’s layout and amenities are designed with families in mind, providing a safe and enjoyable environment for guests of all ages.

These thoughtful touches ensure that families have plenty of options for entertainment and relaxation.

Wonderful Management

One of the highlights of our stay was meeting the resort’s manager, Michelle.

Michelle made a point of personally coming and greeting us, ensuring that we felt welcomed and valued from the moment we arrived.

Her professionalism, combined with her friendly and approachable demeanor, made a significant impact on our overall experience.

It’s clear that her leadership and commitment to excellence contribute greatly to the resort’s welcoming and family-friendly atmosphere.

Nearby Attractions

Again, the resort’s location is central to many attractions in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea. Families can enjoy snorkeling, shopping, and local dining options. 

The vibrant surroundings offer plenty of activities to explore and enjoy. 

Some nearby attractions include the Anglin’s Fishing Pier, which is excellent for a family fishing adventure, and the Lauderdale-by-the-Sea beach park, which offers picnic areas and playgrounds.

Fort Lauderdale is just a short drive away for those interested in exploring further. Several golf courses are also in the area, perfect for a relaxing day on the greens.

Our overall experience at Plunge Beach Resort was exceptional. The resort’s family-friendly environment, attentive staff, and numerous amenities made it a perfect destination for our Father’s Day celebration.
